In early August, I brought together a host of wonderful local and UK wedding suppliers, to create a styled photo shoot based on 1920s Art Deco styling, with hints of chinoiserie and oriental influence. I based the shoot at Charlton House, which suited the styling very well; a mix of 1920s furniture and wallpaper with burnt orange and terracotta coloured walls. Charlton House is a magnificent Somerset wedding venue, located just outside of Sheptom Mallet.

Cathy and Sam married at Charlton House in July. Each walked down the aisle by Cathy’s two sons, they read their personal vowes and enjoyed a harpist’s music and singing. It was perfect July weather and the brides and their guests were able to make the most of Charlton House gardens and interior spaces. A drinks reception was held in the venue’s courtyard and walled garden. Charlton House is a magnificent Somerset wedding venue, located just outside of Sheptom Mallet.

Amy and Sean held their wedding at the beautiful St Andrew’s Church, before heading back to Coombe Lodge for a pretty sage green/pale pink-themed country style reception. Amy and her maids held their morning preparations in the bridal suite at Coombe Lodge (home of the iconic rolltop bath that never fails to amuse the bridesmaids!

The rain fell and fell on their big day (it’s okay, it’s expected; we are in England!) but I do love to photograph a bit of rain; it lends itself nicely to all sorts of interesting compostations. This was that Friday in July where, sandwiched between two weeks of sunshine, the clouds gave up and let rip. Fortunately, Coombe Lodge is perfectly equipped for these circumstances (one of the best venues I know, for inclement weather), so all was well in the end. A table magician kept guests entertained in the bar and hall, during the drinks reception. Amy, Sean and I snuck out into the drizzle (it had calmed down somewhat), and they were both very happy to enjoy some alone time and to make the most of the beautiful gardens at Coombe Lodge.
