Almonry Barn was the setting for the recent `A Beautiful Way` fine art wedding photography workshop; A girl from a rural Italian village meets an English boy and falls in love. Olivia and Anthony have been away from each other for the last month. The day begins with Olivia getting ready, sitting on an antique chair in the shade of a tree in the orchard, having quiet time to herself. Soft fabric, tulle, a handmade lace robe, calmness and peace – with all her pretty details.
Anthony has sent a wedding day love letter for Olivia to read before the ceremony. She sits quietly, looking down, reading.
The second part in my installment of blogs from the `A Beautiful Way` workshop focuses on the bride and groom prep. Set at Almonry Barn, with a whole host of talented wedding vendors. The day was a little overcast, yet warm enough to mooch around the grounds of The Almonry Barn, photographing the bridal prep; excellent model Rachel as she reads through the love letter sent by her husband to be.
My personal aims for the course were to fine-tune the way in which I plan my day for each individual wedding. I have come away with a few excellent ideas for creating a set of photographs which cover a full range of ideals that couples are likely to have; Bridal prep will become a thing of two parts – during the first hour, I will concentrate my efforts on details and setting the scene. When the hair and make-up are near completion, this is when i`ll fit in a bit of time for some documentary shooting, before finishing off the morning prep with a set of portraits. This means that my brides can feel relaxed and focussed until they are ready, saving on any unnecessary rushing about.
