Amy and Sean held their wedding at the beautiful St Andrew’s Church, before heading back to Coombe Lodge for a pretty sage green/pale pink-themed country style reception. Amy and her maids held their morning preparations in the bridal suite at Coombe Lodge (home of the iconic rolltop bath that never fails to amuse the bridesmaids!
The rain fell and fell on their big day (it’s okay, it’s expected; we are in England!) but I do love to photograph a bit of rain; it lends itself nicely to all sorts of interesting compostations. This was that Friday in July where, sandwiched between two weeks of sunshine, the clouds gave up and let rip. Fortunately, Coombe Lodge is perfectly equipped for these circumstances (one of the best venues I know, for inclement weather), so all was well in the end. A table magician kept guests entertained in the bar and hall, during the drinks reception. Amy, Sean and I snuck out into the drizzle (it had calmed down somewhat), and they were both very happy to enjoy some alone time and to make the most of the beautiful gardens at Coombe Lodge.
Lucy and David had their butterfly-blue themed wedding at Coombe Lodge. The grounds were in full spring bloom for the occasion and the weather held out for a cool, calm April day. Lucy’s lovely entourage wore bold royal blue while David’s men all wore grey.
Coombe Lodge interior was adorned with some amazing bright blooms, dotted with small metallic butterflies. The couple had decked the dining hall with beautiful ornate favours and die-cut stationery.
Suzanne & Andy’s 28th December Coombe Lodge wedding was a mix of festive fun and new year glamour. The Lodge was wintry and interesting, with none of it’s stately flora in bloom, but plenty of roaring fires and snug sofas. Suzanne had chosen beautiful hand-painted baubles for her guest’s favours and a sumptuous mix of black, burgundy and plum as a colour scheme. I had an absolute ball, and was very grateful to receive a plate of gorgeous Mediterranean antipasti to follow my homemade ‘turkey leftovers’ sandwiches. I don’t ask to be fed at weddings…but who would turn down a free plate of food?!
